How to play folk rock on guitar and drums?

February 212010

I understand the sound but not how to produce it. The only guitar technique I know that MIGHT be used in folk rock a LITTLE is bluegrass strumming. I can write the lyrics correctly and I can sing in a folk rock voice, but for the composing the instruments part, are there any techniques I don’t know of, are there any chords, notes, or scales commonly used in folk rock?

I think the trick to folk rock is it’s simplicity.

Keep your strumming and your chord progressions simple, and let the words be in the spotlight.

Use G, C, D, Em, Am, F, or Dm in any order and you’ll be on the right track. Keep your attention on the melody and the lyrics, and use the music as a backdrop for what you want to say.

That’s it!

Peace,
Andrew

How would one get a government grant to promote the art of Folk dancing?

It seems many of our folk dancing groups are dying off due to lack of funds to promote. It would be a shame to see these art forms disappear

We havent seen many grants over the last 5 years. But there are "bond money" issues that are voted on by cities and states. They agree to provide financing for the "arts". You apply and they give you money. You would be expected to pay this back either by making money from the dancing or by performing at city and state ceremonies as a featured entertainer..

What is the name of the yellow wild flower in Animal Crossing City Folk?

What is the name of the yellow wild flower that grows in Animal Crossing City Folk? I think that it starts with a P. I’m at work and can’t search for the answer. This is driving crazy. I don’t think that I can wait to get home for an answer.

Are they yellow pansies? Flowers come in a variety of colors, but the name will depend on the design of the flower.

How to keep residents from moving out on Animal Crossing: City Folk?

Ok I have this favorite character and they are wanting to leave is there any way i can keep them from going. I know in Wild World you can talk to them is that the same for City Folk? Please help me out on this Thanks!

It’s different in Wild World, the animal doesn’t speak to you about it in advance as in Let’s Go To The City [City Folk]. You can presuade an animal to stay by talking to it continuously until they say something like "Well, if you want me to stay this badly, then I’ll think about it. But no promises!"
Or anything along those lines. This usually means they will stay after saying something like that. I’ve never had a case where that hasn’t worked. All though sometimes you can’t get an Animal to say they will think about staying. And they just move away. Sometimes they will send you a letter just after they move.
Now, back to your question;
I’m not sure you can’t stop an animal from moving in CF, so when an animal talks to you about moving, just keep saying "Don’t Go!" or "Th-That can’t be!" or whatever, and this may cause them to change their mind before they actually pack up their boxes. Try sending a letter with a gift attached.

But you can stop them by moving (Before they decided to!) by:
Pulling up weeds
Planting Trees and flowers all over the place
Picking up furniture you’ve dumped on the ground (I do this, my house is cluttered, so stuff has to be left out side while I sort out my old rubbish, to put them into my house or storage, or to sell)
When you’re asked to deliver a parcel/letter NEVER open it! The animal will never let it go. (My favourite character Drake left after I did this and kept bringing the subject up and getting upset. Also never say no -there’s Bells and Prizes if you deliver them!
Make daily visits to everyone in your town. And whenever they ask your opinion, flatter them! Some will soon become your best friend, and regularly give you gifts and maybe even their photo (I have Drifts, Lily’s, Gwen’s, Sally’s, Aurora’s, Pierce’s, and Bluebear’s)
Send them letters! In AC, everyone loves getting letters. I try to send one each day, with a gift attached. This not only keeps them happy, but they will always send a gift back. This is especially good for getting rid of old shirts, seeing as they are worth next to nothing!

I’m sure you knew most of this, so it’s just for people who don’t know so much about it.
Sorry If I went on a bit. Hope this helped.

What is the Difference Between an Acoustic Guitar & a Folk Guitar?

What is the difference between a Acoustic Guitar & a Folk Guitar? Also, if you can please. Is it "an acoustic" or "a acoustic" ? Thanks.
Thanks. I meant why are they called "Folk"? If I go browse guitars i will find a category for "Acoustic" & "Folk". Why? Thanks again.

An acoustic guitar is any guitar that has a hollow chamber that makes sound entirely acoustically without need of amplification. There are lots of kinds, including steel string flattops, archtops, and classical (nylon string) guitars.

"Folk guitar" is essentially a meaningless term that is typically used to indicate an acoustic guitar with a smaller body than the more common dreadnought or jumbo size. Something like a grand concert or even parlor size acoustic guitar might be called a folk guitar. The term presumably comes from the fact that many folk musicians - myself included - prefer smaller body guitars.

what is the best way to raise money in Animal crossing City folk for wii?

I got animal crossing city folk for my wii. Now i am up to the part where i have to pay like 200 something thousand for my house upgrade. I want to pay it up fast but like its taking to much time. What is the best way in winter time to make money other than picking flowers, fishing, and finding shell?? Is there something that could give me a lot of money?

Strike all the rocks with a shovel - if coins pop out, quickly keep stricking it - about 4 or 5 coins plus a bag of coins usually come out of rocks. Be careful though cause you bounce away from the rocks when you strike them. Make sure your close enoughto hit the rock cause once you miss it, no more coins from that rock. Also, shake all the trees without fruit on them. Coins and other gifts fall from trees. Another caution - sometimes Bees come out of trees, they will sting you & give you a swollen eye. If bees come out of a tree,, run like heck & get inside the closest building. Bees cant go in buildings. If you get stung - take medicine to make your eye all better or just go to bed, save your game & when you start again, your eye will be all better.

How is Tyr a folk metal band when they have no folk instruments?

December 202009

Everybody classifies Tyr as a folk metal band but they don’t use any folk instruments. Aren’t they just viking metal?

Their songs are often based on traditional Faroese folk melodies, or are actually metal arrangements of traditional Faroese folk songs.

How can you get into the lighthouse in Animal Crossing City Folk?

December 172009

Posted in folk | 3 Comments »

Ive had the lighthouse for a long time know and I cant get into it. I know the Mayor asks you to turn the light on sometimes in Animal crossing wild world, but does the same thing happen in City Folk? And when does it happen?

Actually there was no lighthouse in Animal Crossing: Wild World, just in the origianl animal crossing for the GameCube. Tortimer asks you to turn it on in the game cube version of the game but not in City Folk. It just stays the way it is. Sorry!
