I need a variety of opinnions for my music project about jazz music. So, do you like it? Why? If not, why? Also, who is your favourite jazz musician?

I love jazz having been a devoted follower for some years now, am mainly into the 40’s 80’s eras not much before or after as its all recorded there for me to peruse at leisure to enhance my collection/ knowledge on the subject, quite a limited time scale i know but am happy with that.

The only musician who comes near to this is Anthony Braxton who uses mathematical relationships, diagram and formulae in his compositions and playing see the following as one example of his work.

Anthony Braxton Composition 98 rec Jan 19/24 live and studio Germany/Switzerland in ‘81 on hat ART 1984. ( 2 LP’s ).

The liner notes are as comprehensive as the enclosed works with schematics of the composition and layout for performance enclosed as they are on many of his albums, if you want answers to your question look no further than Anthony and study him, I’ve been trying for years and am still confused by the cover diagrams, good luck.

i want to see what some jazz is like. what jazz song do you think is good for an 11 year old person (me) that listens to aot of rock and buckethead. Can you help me please because I want to learn to play it on drums or guitar. Thank you.

There are many, many types of jazz out there. There is old style New Orleans and Chicago styles (like Louie Armstrong, Sidney Bechet or King Oliver) to Kansas City style (Count Basie), people like Duke Ellington (not sure where to fit him in), to later types such as BeBop (Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie), Cool Jazz (Miles Davis, John Coltrane) and Fusion (Chick Corea, Weather Report, Herbie Hancock, Billy Cobham, etc).
If you like rock, a good entry point into jazz is the the area called jazz-rock fusion. It has also been labeled "beyond jazz" and it is a very contemporary style. A couple good guitar players who play in this area are Pat Metheny and Jeff Beck (although a lot of people think of Jeff Beck only as a rocker). Weather Report is also worth a listen to (the late Jaco Pastorius was their famous bass player). A drummer you might consider listening to is Billy Cobham.

I suggest you trying to search for music videos on YouTube using the names listed above. Also try the band "Return to Forever." See if you like that or something else.

First Louis Armstrong brought Jazz out of New Orleans and spread it not only across North America but around the world. He was the first soloist. His playing was so great that they would allow him to play solo in the middle of songs. We take this for granted now but it was never done before Louis Armstrong. All the musicians you hear doing solos from Clapton to whomever in the middle of a song owe it all Sachmo. He invented scat singing that is using his voice as an instrument. He was said to have used his instrument like a voice and his voice like an instrument.

He brought Jazz to the world and because of his incredible talent was able to cross the color barrier. He was the top performer at a time when there wasn’t internet or TV.

There must be a site that has jazz trumpet music sheets..i have read other answers of similar questions and they give links to site like 8notes.com and others as well.i have visited those site many times and they dont have alot of trumpet music sheets although people say they have,all those sites have alot of piano and guitar.I just want some nice jazz sheets to play with my trumpet.
