Do you know any interesting classical music that is good for contemporary dancing?

February 192010

So I have to do a school project and choreograph a dance to classical music, as I’m a contemporary dancer I’d like to choreograph a contemporary dance and not something that looks like classical ballet. Anyone who knows a good piece or composer that is not an obvious choice? O, I love piano!
Thanks in advance!

Rachmaninov is good for piano pieces, and I don’t think his stuff is usually played, at least not in dance.

Here’s a song I found on youtube.com

Rachmaninov Prelude in C-Sharp minor Op.3 No.2

Rachmaninov plays Rachmaninov Piano Concerto 3 (1939)

Here’s his wikipedia page with some song suggestions which you can also search out:

The Prelude in C Sharp is probably one of his more famous songs.
