Research paper on folk music scene during the sixties in Greenwich Village?
January 102010
So I’m trying to come up with a research paper on the folk music scene during the sixties in Greenwich Village and about how all these people with ideas of socially conscious music conglomerated there (teacher’s recommendation for topic). I’m having trouble coming up with a thesis though. I don’t know if its sufficient to say that these ideas of being socially conscious through music originated there as a thesis. Does anyone have any ideas about what I could possibly have an argument about on this topic?
Im really confused about this.
Please answer if you know anything about this subject.
Socially Conscious music was an off shoot of the poets reading in coffee houses of the late 50s and early 60s. My opinion is that it started its wat in the Boston vicinity connecting with the universities there and advanced to singing Folk music. (Irish influences) It spread from there to Greenwich Village where many artists came to be associated.
