Guns of Navarone – Greek Folk Song

This is in memory of a charming old man who used to live in my street; he was a French speaker, but was from one of those exotic French islands somewhere like the Indian Ocean, and in his heavily accented English he would always say to me, “Greece, beautiful music ! Beautiful music ! Guns of Navarone, beautiful singing !”. He would then hum this tune to me, and always asked me if I could get him for him. Well it was in the days before Internet, so it took me a couple of years, but I eventually found this song on a Greek Folk Songs CD, and it was just wonderful to see the delighted expression on his face when I presented it to him !

No, Where Eagles …
No, Where Eagles Dare is much better and Burton and Eastwood were the right age. The Great Escape is overlong and boring though.
I wish the draft dodging coward Gregory Peck had died of LUNG CANCER. What a ing insult to real veterans casting such OLD men like Peck, Niven, Quinn and Qualye. No wonder Stanley Baker hated the whole ing thing.

i agree with what youre sayin orangebox! i think flamenco songs sound amazing…so passionate & firey! i still do but now ive learnt spanish and i understand the words and it says random stuff like, “then my little grandmother bought a blue dress from the market” lol! not quite as exotic! this song is cool though. great story aabout the old man mackyv!
