He’s playing a …
He’s playing a diatonic two row button accordion (or melodeon). Irish versions typically have the two rows tuned to B/C, C#/D or D/D#, which makes them chromatic or nearly chromatic (which is to say all the notes of the scale are available). A concertina is ocatagonal or hexagonal and is basically a melodeon keyboard split halfway down with the upper half found under the left hand and the lower half found under the right hand. No bass buttons on a concertina.
He’s a good player, isn’t he?

To the person who …
To the person who wants the sheet music to this tune
Log on to web and look up The Session – it lists the sheet music for several thousand irish tunes – including sound files so you can hear the tune.
The tune is listed as Franc A´Phoill

some people say its …
some people say its not the size that matters – its what you do with it
That aside the small ones have less weight so its easier to travel about with them. They are also likely to have less couplers therefore types of sound are restricted.
The larger models need more power in the left arm and tend to have a variety of inter changeable sounds.
